Transcendental Mail Art Box.. An Anthology of 13 little art works made by order of the Secret Society of Diligent Mail Artists by Geza Perneczky 1987-1988. Cologne, Selfpublished, 1988. Cardboard box, 31.5 x 22.5 x 2.5 cm, stapled and taped at the corners as issued. A mounted sheet on the lid doubles as contents sheet as well as a sending label, addressed and poststamped to Gallery A, Harry Ruhé in Amsterdam. The box is numbered No.0229 in red marker on the lower right corner.
Contains 14 leafs, 29.5 x 21 cm, including an information/contents sheet and 13 lithographed sheets with original collaged and stamped artworks. Elements used in the collages encompass sand, ribbons, string, wallpaper, pencil and ink. Each sheet is signed, stamped and numbered 0229 from an edition of 300. There is an extra sheet of No.13 Secret Society stamped 0672. The contents list presents 13 artworks, one of them missing (No.1 Transcendental Mail Stamps). This does not seem unusual with this edition, as a special entry for a ‘missing piece’ is mentioned on the contents list. The cardboard box features some rubbing on the extremities and moderate spotting on both the box and the title sheet. The artworks are in mint condition.
